PASTOR'S COMMENT

Pastor's Annual Report 2009

Introduction
The life of KAC continues to sail on in often unexpected ways, but always there is the sense that God is at the helm and He will accomplish His purposes through us, as long as we follow His instructions. Rosemary and I continue to enjoy the wonderful love and fellowship of this Church and the opportunity to teach God’s Word on a regular basis to a Congregation which values such an emphasis. It is encouraging to hear that numbers of those who have joined us over the past year or so have expressed their deep appreciation of this ministry.

IS THIS A "REVIVAL" OF GOD?

It is nearly three months since we heard news of a a "Revival" breaking out in the town of Lakeland, Florida, under the ministry of a young Canadian by the name of Todd Bentley. With the marvels of the modern media, not only news reports, but actual videos of the meetings were instantly available around the globe. Right from the beginning there were reports of extraordinary healings at the meetings, and also among people listening to, or watching the meetings in their homes.

The Month Ahead

Dear KAC Family

There are four matters that I wish to bring to your attention for the coming Month or so:

1. As we mentioned last week, this Sunday will be the dedication of little Keira, as well as being our monthly Communion and Church lunch. Because of the extra number of visitors, I would encourage you all to be at church on time, not only to ensure you get a seat, but to welcome our guests. There is nothing more embarrassing than to have visitors arrive early and there are no regulars present.

The Church of Tomorrow

Greg Beech’s message last Sunday reminded us of the need for flexibility and adaptability in responding to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our Services, and the importance of congregational input. He also challenged us on the point of relevance to the times and culture in which we live. Evidence from around the world indicates that, while traditional church numbers are declining alarmingly, where the Spirit of God is at work, and where church life is relevant to the lives of the people, there is significant growth.
Greg referred us to the passage in 1Cor 14:26 which speaks of the Christians in Corinth coming together and “everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.” This is far from the “one man band” pattern of church that is found in many places today. However, it is also important for everything to be done “in a fitting and orderly way.” (1Cor 14:40) Achieving a balance between freedom and order has been the challenge of the Church for two millennia, with the Quaker approach on one extreme and the Catholic/Orthodox liturgy on the other.
